"Been a long time since I rock and rolled..."
*** EDIT *** HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]amakazon a day late :`(

I'm feeling a little trapped by my music collection lately... not sure why, as it remains eclectic, but I'd like to add something new (or old, but different) to my library. To that end, suggest 3 bands/ songs/ albums that I should check out... Bonus if I've not heard of it, and like it.

Recommendations: Avoid country/ bluegrass/ folk, etc... unless bagpipes are involved. Not really a fan of death metal, ballads, soul or urban, but I'm open to anything that moves me. For Classical, I need the piece and the version / recording I should be looking for -- let's face it, there are some definitive versions of pieces which really make the music live.

Help a brother out! (and yes, Dave -- I do want to listen to XUBERX's newest CD... I have nuclearfest on my calendar, dammit!)

So yeah, I've been kinda ignoring license plates (and not driving as much... and not taking my camera as much...) but here are a few that motivated me to grab. No cars or people were harmed in the taking of any of these.

I found the last two funniest, but I admit that 'bimbo bakery is pretty intriguing -- buxom bakers in their skimpiest aprons?

1. Ok, I understand about avoiding country and bluegrass, but how can you not want to listen to Convoi! It's an alt.country/oi! band. www.myspace.com/convoi! will give you a flavor.

2. All the cool kids seem to be in love with Aesthetic Perfection. Now, I grant you, I am not as passionate about it as the others, but again, you can get a free taste via the internetz. www.myspace.com/closetohuman

3. Another band I don't personally drool over but EVERYONE ELSE walking the Earth loves is IAMX. Again, www.myspace.com/iamx Listen to the Alternative on that player, though. It is amazingly crafted.

4. I'm pimping Nachtmahr because we're about to play with them in July. www.myspace.com/nachtmahr

5. And Sensuous Enemy are pretty flippin' amazing. www.myspace.com/sensuousenemy I mean, they cover the Pet Shop Boys!

That'll keep you busy for a bit. Oh! and our remix CD is up on iTunes (finally) if you want to preview tracks.

I'm laughing only because I did look for Convoi, though I always forget that Myspace is the place to go for new music. How can you not love a band that covers classic punk rock in a country-ish style?

I'll be listening to the others and let you know what tickles my fancy.

(dirty secret -- I actually like some bluegrass -- it has to be seriously banjo heavy and played by a virtuoso, but yeah, some of it kicks ass!)

Okay -- I've sampled all, now, and I have to say YES to all! Thanks! BTW: I've sampled the XUBERX stuff on itunes, but I still want to own the CD! I will buy it at one of your shows, darn it!
